I hear more and more children are entering the homeschool arena. Homeschool is a whole new life changing way to do life and school. I am homeschooling on my official fifth year but I used to homeschool my older children about 20 years ago. I truly thought that my daughter who is in second grade was going to be in a Christian school. At least those were my plans. But God had other plans. Did I wrestle in my heart and mind with God on this? Kind of.
I Love Being a Teacher!
I love being a teacher and I love all things school. But I was kind of hoping that Mia would be in school and I would have all day to crochet, sew, craft and bake! I have a teacher credential and a Masters in Education. Although these credentials can land me a job in the education field, I know without a doubt my calling is to be a stay at home mom.
Homeschool Lessons Learned
I have learned so much and want to share my journey thus far in homeschooling from Preschool to Second grade. My challenges have been organizing, time management, and making our learning time fun and exciting! Of course there are a lot more things I have learned along the way but for now let’s focus on these topics before diving into more.
Homeschool can be F-U-N!
Here are a few tips to keep your Homeschool Classroom fun and exciting!
- Let your child choose what subject to do first (math, art, ELA, read)
- Choose a theme that your child loves (apples, trucks, legos, princess)
- Use your child’s favorite colors (rainbow, red, blue and green)
- Ask for your child’s advice when ordering lessons, manipulatives and books (lessons on (sand, blocks, tiles) (books on bears, fairies, rocks)
